Charles E. Ruelle

Charles E. Ruelle, 80, Wisconsin Rapids, a former Stevens Point resident and store owner, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. William Menzel officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Two Rivers at a later date.

Visitation will be at Higgins Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and at the church from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the services.

A memorial will be established in lieu of flowers at the Community Foundation of South Wood County, which manages funds that benefit the area.

Mr. Ruelle was born July 28, 1929, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Joseph and May (Krueger) Ruelle.

He was married to Marion Brault on Aug. 20, 1949, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Two Rivers.

He earned an associate's degree in mechanical engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1949.

He was employed at Hamilton Manufacturing Co. as national service manager and later at Paragon Electric as O.E.M sales manager in Two Rivers. After leaving Paragon Electric, he worked in retail electronics for two decades, first owning a store in Manitowoc and later founding Hi-Fi and Camera Forum in Stevens Point.

In 1989, he worked at Best Power Technology in Necedah as director, National Power Laboratory and later joined Renaissance Learning as general manager, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Stevens Point Curling Club from 1974 to 1989.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, David (Elizabeth), Cary, Ill., Lee (Karen), New York City, Joseph, Wausau, and Stephen (Linda), Greenwood, Minn.; one daughter, Kathryn Ruelle, Beldenville; one sister, Jeanne (Jim) Kilbane, Minocqua; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
