| Fern L. Leavitt Fern L. Leavitt, 86, Stevens Point, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the Stevens Point Care Center in Whiting. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Boston Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Leavitt officiating. Burial will be in Plover Cemetery in Plover. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and again from 10 a.m. Thursday until the service. Condolences may be offered online at bostonfuneralhome.net. Mrs. Leavitt was born Dec. 4, 1923, in the town of Plover, a daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie (Smith) Newby. She grew up in the area, attended the local elementary school and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. She was married to Leo Potter after high school. He preceded her in death. She later married Robert Leavitt on Sept. 24, 1955. He died on August 5, 1999. She worked at the Sky Club as a cook for a short time and later became a sales representative, selling World Book Encyclopedias. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Bancroft. She also volunteered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Survivors include four children, Allan (Vicki) Potter, Stevens Point, Richard (Barbara) Potter, Sheboygan, Robert (Fran) Leavitt, St. Cloud, Fla., and Greg (Tammy) Leavitt, Bancroft; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by one son, Lenard; brothers; and sisters. |
