| L. Gardner 'Gardy' Harvey L. Gardner "Gardy" Harvey, 86, King, an Amherst native and former Amherst pharmacist, as well as the father of an Amherst man, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, with Chaplain Rich Engle officiating. Burial will be in the spring. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. Tuesday until the service. A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be offered online at www.hollyfuneralhome.com. Mr. Harvey was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Amherst, a son of the late Vernon and Genevieve Harvey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Ruby Peterson on Oct. 26, 1946, in Amherst. She died Feb. 14, 2006. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a pharmacist. He owned a pharmacy in the Amherst area for several years. He was then employed by the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King as a pharmacist, and he retired from there in 1985. He was a Boy Scout leader in his younger years and a member of the Tomorrow River Lions Club. He was a member of the Amherst United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Thomas, Greenfield, and Timothy (Kathy), Amherst; one daughter, Deborah (David) DeBruin, Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Laurie Jean Harvey; one sister, Mildred; and one brother, Burton. |
