Clifford Allen Grover
Clifford Allen Grover, 91, Sun City, Ariz., a Junction City native and brother of a Stevens Point woman, died unexpectedly
Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, in Sun City, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, Minn.
A burial service with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, Minn., on Friday,
Jan. 15.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, until the services.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church "Vertical
Lift Fund," 30609 State Highway 371, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472.
Mr. Grover was born March 16, 1918, in Junction City, a son of the late Rodney and Louise Grover.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a B17 bomber pilot, The Flying Fortress, with missions over Europe
and North Africa.
He was married to his wife, Arlie, 67 years ago.
He moved his family from Stevens Point to Minneapolis, Minn., in 1955 where he worked for Lever Brothers Company
until retiring in 1980.
He was active in church, singing in the choir at Triune God Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center, Minn., and at Gloria
Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, Minn.
He built a retirement home on Gull Lake north of Brainerd, Minn.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allen (Linda) and James (Frankie); two daughters, Sharon (Roy) Andrews and
Vicki (Buzz) Benson; one sister, Vivian (Vern) Moss, Stevens Point; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth. |
