| Emil A. Fleischauer Jr. Emil A. Fleischauer Jr., 83, 402 Linwood Ave., Park Ridge, a longtime officer for the village of Park Ridge, died at his home Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010. A memorial celebration will be held at a future date. Boston Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at bostonfuneralhome.net. Mr. Fleischauer was born April 4, 1927, in Colby, a son of the late Emil A. and Carolyn (Vobach) Fleischauer. He graduated from Colby High School. He received a degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He subsequently earned his juris doctorate from the UW Law School in 1951. He was married to Mary Lou Becker of Colby in 1949. The couple moved to Stevens Point two years later. He began a long career with Hardware Mutuals (now Sentry Insurance) in 1951. He served in a variety of managerial positions at Sentry before joining the company's legal department in 1959. In 1981 he was elected vice president and general counsel of Sentry Insurance. He also served as director of Sentry's subsidiary companies. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Kiwanis Club and served as an officer and director of the Wisconsin Insurance Association. Mr. Fleischauer served as Park Ridge village clerk until 1981 and then as village president from 1981 to 1993. After retirement he was an active member of the Learning Is For Ever (LIFE) adult continuing education program. He was a tennis enthusiast who played into his 80s until being stricken with cancer. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vicki, Madison, and Missy, Spearfish, S.D.; three sons, Alan (Paula), Minneapolis, Minn., Kirk, Wausau, and Mark (Kristin), Vancouver, Wash; one sister, Grace (Cliff) Fonstad, Madison; and eight grandchildren. |
