Eugene John 'Gene' Brach

Eugene John "Gene" Brach, 89, Plainfield, formerly of Chicago, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Wild Rose Manor in Wild Rose.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Plainfield. Burial will take place at a later date in Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, Ill.

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the services.

The family was assisted by the Gasperic Funeral Home in Plainfield.

Mr. Brach was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Francis "Frank" and Berniece (Ciesla) Brach.

He was married to Rose Petruska on Nov. 15, 1944. She died in September 1981.

He was married to Lauretta (Zielinski) Beggs on June 10, 1994.

He worked at Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and retired after 39 years of service.

After retirement, he relocated to the Plainfield area, where he added to his John Deere collection.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Plainfield.

Survivors include his wife, Lauretta; three daughters, Darleen (Pete) Winkler, Lake Forest, Ill., Eugenia (Stu) Lamch, Gilberts, Ill., and Pamela (Dan) DaLuga, West Des Moines, Iowa; three stepchildren, Rick (Julie) Beggs and Kathy (Leroy) Hotchkiss, both of Bancroft, and Carollee (Brad) Norquist, Hancock; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
