Edna M. Aavang

Edna M. Aavang, 90, Mount Horeb, mother of a Stevens Point resident, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at Meriter Hospital in Madison.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Horeb, with the Rev. John Twiton officiating. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Madison.

Visitation will be at the church from 9 to 10:20 a.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Aavang was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Springdale Township, a daughter of the late John and Bertha (Eberhardt) Bigler. She graduated from Mount Horeb High School.

She was married to Laverne H. Aavang on Sept. 15, 1941, at the West Blue Mounds Lutheran Church. He died March 3, 1994.

She was a poll worker for the village of Mount Horeb.

She was a member of Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church, WELCA and Guild, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of Norway.

Survivors include three children, Janice M. DeWitt, Mount Horeb, Glennis (Barbara) Aavang, Stevens Point, and Harold Aavang, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jack Bigler.
