| Joan Zimmerman Joan Zimmerman, 87, 2708 Simonis St., Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at her home while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with the Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at the church from 11 a.m. Friday until the services. The St. Stanislaus Rosary Society will combine with the general rosary at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. Condolences may be offered online at www.shudafuneral.com. Mrs. Zimmerman was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Monett, Mo., a daughter of Arthur and Rose (White) Sturgis. As a child she moved with her family to St. Paul, Minn., where she graduated from high school and Rasmussen Business College in South St. Paul, Minn. She was married to Henry Zimmerman on April 14, 1945, in San Louis Obispo, Calif. They moved to the Stevens Point area in 1957. She worked at Sentry Insurance for 12 years and also was a bookkeeper for the family owned Westside Market and West Gate Grocery. She was an active member of St. Stanislaus Parish, attending morning Mass with her special friends and then having breakfast as a group. She was one of the original members for the fund drives of the diocesan cathedral and for Pacelli High School. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Catholic Daughters, St. Stanislaus Rosary Society and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dean, Elkhart Lake, Bob (Karen), Appleton, and Hank (Susan), Franklin; one daughter, Rose Zimmerman (Mike) Ford, St. Cloud, Minn.; one sister, Kathleen (Tosh) Bleckinger, St. Paul, Minn.; and seven grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Patrick; two sisters; and one brother. |
