| Eugene F. Sturm Eugene Francis Sturm, 88, Sioux Falls, S.D., a Stevens Point native and brother of a Stevens Point man, died on his birthday, Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at his home. A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. Visitation was at the Miller Funeral Home of Sioux Falls, S.D., on Friday, Feb. 19. Condolences may be offered online at www.millerfh.com. Mr. Sturm was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Carl and Jessie Sturm. He graduated from high school in Stevens Point and attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. He served as a paratrooper in the Marines during World War II. He later worked at various jobs before settling in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was married to Sherrie Donahue in 1959. He began in the insurance business in 1962 and retired in the early 1980s. He was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. Survivors include five sons, Mark (Elizabeth), California, and Mike, Randy, Richard and Patrick Sturm, all of Sioux Falls. S.D.; one daughter, Mary Hofer, Denver; the mother of his children, Sherrie Sturm, Sioux Falls, S.D.; one sister, Mary (Bob) Zieper, Eden Prairie, Minn.; one brother, Wally (Marie), Stevens Point; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Rod; and one sister, Marge. |
