Sister Luella Sopa
Sister Luella Sopa, 97, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 81 years and Fancher native,
died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at St. Joseph Motherhouse in Stevens Point.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel, 1300 Maria Drive,
Stevens Point, with the Rev. Robert Greatorex officiating. Burial will be in the convent cemetery.
Visitation will be in the chapel from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass.
Memorials in her name may be offered to the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point is assisting with arrangements.
The former Susan Sopa was born May 31, 1912, in Fancher, the youngest child of the late John and Elizabeth (Trzebiatowski)
Sopa.
She was received into the novitiate of the Order on Aug. 6, 1929, and professed perpetual vows on Aug. 6, 1935.
She served as an educator, hospital administrator and in community administration prior to retiring in 1994. From
1994 to 2002 she offered supportive services at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. |
