Belva G. Simonis

Belva G. Simonis, 81, Neenah, a former Rosholt area resident, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the home of her nephew in Elderon while under the care of her family and AseraCare Hospice, Wausau.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Parish in Neenah, with the Rev. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Rest Cemetery in Elderon at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the services.

Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at

Mrs. Simonis was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Elderon, a daughter of the late Fred and Gertrude (Ackerman) Mortson.

She was married to Michael Simonis on May 29, 1948, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt.

She was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Parish in Neenah where she was part of the Birthday Club that provided home visits to elderly parishioners.

Survivors include her husband, Neenah; one sister, Beverly Wyman, King; three nephews, Gary (Bernie) Wyman, Elderon, Dennis (Mary) Wyman, Iola, and Pete (Sue) Wyman, Baldwin, Kansas; three great-nephews; and two great nieces.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Mortson.
