Jeanne A. Rogers

Jeanne A. Rogers, 79, 209 Linwood Ave., Park Ridge, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at her home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with the Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery in Ellis.

Visitation will be at Boston Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the Mass. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Martin Catholic Church in Ellis.

Mrs. Rogers was born Nov. 3, 1930, in the town of Sharon, a daughter of the late Martin and Lucy (Simonis) Steffanus. She was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Stevens Point.

She was married to William R. Rogers on Feb. 3, 1951, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Ellis.

She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, earning a bachelor of science degree in elementary education in 1971. During her time of education, she was also a drum majorette with the S.J.A. Drum & Bugle Corps and played violin in the symphony orchestra.

She taught in Catholic schools for 19 years. After teaching in the Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools primary classrooms, she tutored English as a second language to adults.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and was a member of the Celebration Choir and Resurrection Choir for many years.

Survivors include husband; eight children, Susan, Mukwonago, Robert, Stevens Point, Bruce (Mary), New London, Richard, San Diego, Calif., Ellen, Monroe, Maurice, Weyauwega, Niles, Madison, and Philip (Marcella), Sun Prairie; one brother, Wilfred (Agnes) Steffanus; two sisters, Elizabeth (John) Speth and Avis (Louis) Wysocki; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda; one brother, Charles Steffanus; two sisters, Rose Skibba and Melanie; and one grandson.
