| Mavis 'Midge' Peterson Mavis "Midge" Peterson, 86, formerly of 3916 Simonis St., Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Harmony Living Center, while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Steven Olson officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be at the funeral chapel from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the services. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers in her name are appreciated for Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services. Condolences may be offered online at www.shudafuneral.com. Mrs. Peterson was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Thief River Falls, Minn., a daughter of the late Carl and Mathilda (Stokke) Olson. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, she moved to California where she was a telegraph operator during World War II. She then returned to Thief River Falls. She was married to Wallace Peterson on Jan. 13, 1946. He died on March 24, 1963. After the marriage they moved to the Stevens Point area. After Wallace died she was married to Dwaine "Babe" Peterson May 15, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. He died on Aug. 17, 1985. She was a homemaker for many years and also worked at the Stevens Point Public Library, along with working in retail. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a past member of the Moose Lodge of Stevens Point, and she did volunteer work at the Senior Center. Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (Gordon) Cisewski, Janesville, and Vicki (Johnny) Drapes, Plover; one son, Terry (Jody) Peterson, Stevens Point; two stepchildren, Sue (Dick) Clussman, Stevens Point, and Cheryl Carpenter, Belvidere, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and one stepson. |
