Gerald 'Gerry' Meyer

Gerald "Gerry" Meyer, 55, 4101 Jordan Lane, Stevens Point, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at his home while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services and caregiver Inetta Posey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, with the Rev. John Paul Lobo officiating. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.

Visitation will be at the Plover-Shuda Family Funeral Home in Plover from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council 1170, of which he was a fourth-degree member, will pray a rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name for the Portage County Humane Society and Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services.

Mr. Meyer was born Nov. 25, 1954, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Edwin and Marge (Wroblewski) Meyer.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

After he completed school he worked in Chicago.

He was married to Linda Palesh on June 17, 1978.

They moved to Stevens Point in April 1998.

He worked at Johnson Distributing and most recently at the Plover-Shuda Family Funeral Home as a funeral assistant.

He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1170, an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Divco Club of America, and a former member of the Stevens Point Evening Lions.

Survivors include his wife; one sister, Judy Dinghofer, St. Charles, Ill.; and two nieces, Leah and Janet.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Kizewski.
