Douglas J. Meyer

Douglas James Meyer, 58, town of Milladore, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Blenker, with the Rev. Augustine Bentil officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in the town of Sherry.

Visitation will be at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the Mass. A parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Meyer was born June 2, 1951, in Wisconsin Rapids, a son of the late Roy and Caroline (Dillinger) Meyer. He grew up on a farm in the town of Sigel in Wood County and graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1969 and from Mid-State Technical Institute.

He was married to Judy Slattery on Dec. 28, 1976, at St. Philip Church in Rudolph.

He established his own company, Meyer Construction, building and remodeling homes, and worked for more than 25 years for 3M in Nekoosa.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Andrew (Wenli), Houston, Texas, and Roy, Madison; two sisters, Beverly (Marvin) Huser, Vesper, and Karen (Ted) Feenstra, Wisconsin Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Eugene.
