| Frank L. Marten Frank L. Marten, 87, 3200 Water St., Stevens Point, died at home Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services. Private family services were held. Boston Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at bostonfuneralhome.net. Mr. Marten was born May 8, 1922, near Windsor, a son of the late Frank W. and Augusta (Luedtke) Marten. The family moved to Eau Claire, where he attended high school. He enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard, Co. B, 128th Infantry, 32nd Division, in 1938. His enlistment expired in 1941, and he returned to Eau Claire. He was married to Carrol Larson of Altoona in early 1942. She died in 1956. He was recalled to active duty in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Military Police at various locations near the West Coast. He was transferred to Newport News, Va., and was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to Eau Claire, worked for the local fire department for five years and then moved to Seattle, Wash., and worked for Boeing Aircraft. He returned to Eau Claire in 1955. He was married to Mary Musolf of Altoona in 1957. They moved to Beloit, where he worked for Fairbanks-Morris Mfg. for a short time. He had become a journeyman carpenter in 1955, which later led him to construction work, and he was carpenter foreman on all the bridges on Interstate 94 from Belvedere, Ill., to the state line at Beloit. He later worked as carpenter foreman and job superintendent in the greater Milwaukee area until retirement in 1983. After retirement he and his wife relocated to the area near Iola. During his years in Milwaukee, he was active with the Jolly Sportsman Club, where he conducted hunter safety courses for seven years. Survivors include his wife, Mary; three daughters, Darlene Allen, Stevens Point, Pamela (David) Pearce, Henderson, Nev., and Dawn (Daniel) Reynosa, Milwaukee; one son, Dennis (Anita), Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. |
