| Rose M. Kurzynski Rose M. Kurzynski, 89, formerly of 1465 Soo Marie Ave, Stevens Point, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at North Crest Assisted Living while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Kurzynski officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be at Shuda Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the Mass. American Legion Post 6 Auxiliary, of which she was a member for 38 years, will have a ritual in her honor at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, followed by a general rosary at 7 p.m. Condolences may be offered online at www.shudafuneral.com. Mrs. Kurzynski was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Ladysmith, a daughter of the late Anton and Anna (Weska) Marcis who immigrated to the United States from Poland. She attended schools in Marathon County and later moved to Chicago, Ill. She was married to Alois Lloyd Kurzynski on Aug. 16, 1941, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point. He died in 1983. After the marriage they settled in this area, and she resided at her Soo Marie address for 59 years. She was employed by the Hot Fish Shop, American Legion Post 6 and was a food preparer for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point food service until retiring in 1992. She was a member of American Legion Post 6 Auxiliary for 38 years. After retirement she volunteered at the Lincoln Center. Survivors include five daughters, Bernadine Bowman, Weston, Mary Ann (Mike) Snider, Stratford, and Jean (Gary) Steele, Doris (Ron) Sonnenberg, and Joyce (Darol) Dombrowski, all of Amherst; three sons, Gerald (Sharon), Amherst; Richard (Donna), Schaumburg, Ill., and Jeffrey (Margaret), Plover; two brothers, Carl (Hilda) Marcis, Wausau, and Ted (Marion) Marcis, Schofield; two sisters, Ann Bajo, Stevens Point, and Helen (Peter) Muto, River Falls; 27 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Tony Marcis; two sisters, Wanda and Stephanie; and two daughters who died at birth. |
