| Leon F. Holden Leon Fay Holden, 68, Plainfield, a semi driver and mechanic who ran two businesses, died at home Monday, Feb. 15, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials to the family would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be offered online at www.plainfieldfuneralhome.com. Mr. Holden was born Dec. 16, 1941, in the town of Saratoga in Wood County, a son of the late Herbert L. and Agnes A. (Beyers) Holden. He was married to Nancy Hartman. He established J&L Transport in Almond from 1972 until 1986. He then established and ran Leon's Truck & Trailer Repair in Plainfield from October 1986 until his retirement in July 2004. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Inverness, Fla.. They returned to Plainfield in May 2006. He was a sponsor of Ducks Unlimited and a member of the VFW Men's Auxiliary Post 7122 in Floral City, Fla., and the Eagles Arie 3992 in Inverness, Fla. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Paula (Greg) Sumpter, Cedar, Minn., Julie (Patrick) Goodwin, Anchorage, Alaska, and Kim (Ben Krueger) VanderKooi, Appleton; one son, Bill (Jen), Burnsville, Minn.; two sisters, Francis Ostrum, Wisconsin Rapids, and Donna (Don) Challoner, Hayden, Idaho; two brothers, Melvin (Nancy), San Francisco, Calif., and Dewey (Donna), Wisconsin Rapids; and 10 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one son, Mike; one brother, John; and an infant sister. |
