John A. Dobbe

John A. Dobbe, 81, Wittenberg, the former owner of Knight Kap Tavern in Rosholt and father of two Portage County women, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Homme Home for the Aging in Wittenberg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt. Interment will be in Alban Cemetery in the town of Alban.

Visitation will be at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service.

Mr. Dobbe was born July 11, 1928, in the town of Alban in Portage County, a son of the late L. Palmer and Bertha (Gunderson) Dobbe.

He served four years in the United States Navy.

He was married to Lorraine Behnke on May 31, 1952, at Northland Lutheran Church.

He was the owner of the Knight Kap Tavern in Rosholt for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Wittenberg; two daughters, Karen (Tom) Bushman, Rosholt, and Jane (Mark) Eckendorf, Custer; two sons, Gary (Debbie), Guthrie, Ky., and Robert (Debbie), Wisconsin Rapids; one sister, Ellen (Frank) Lease, Chicago, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Richard.
