| Daniel L. Dieterich Daniel L. Dieterich, 91, 2531 Springville Drive, Plover, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Iola Assisted Living in Iola. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, with the Rev. John Paul Lobo officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, until the service. A memorial will be established in his name for the Central Wisconsin Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Boston Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at bostonfuneralhome.net. Mr. Dieterich was born July 29, 1918, in New York City, a son of Jennie (Griff) Dieterich, a flautist, and Roy O. Dieterich, a band leader and singer. As a boy he, his parents, his half-sister Marian, and his brother Roy traveled widely while his parents performed in vaudeville with such entertainers as Buffalo Bill Cody and the Marx Brothers. They also performed at the Chicago World's Fair. He was married to Mary Ellen Biesen in 1941. She died June 11, 2004. He served briefly in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was honorably discharged in 1942. He worked for United Air Lines for more than 30 years, most of those as an industrial engineer, and he lived in several cities and towns in northern Illinois. In 1987, he and his wife moved to Wisconsin with their son, Paul. Survivors include two sons, Drew (Mary), Mission, Kan., and Daniel J. (Diane), Stevens Point; two daughters, Mary Lark, Milford, Mass., and Margaret "Peg," Plover; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one son, Paul; one sister, Marian; and one brother, Roy. |
