| Rosella M. Albrecht Rosella Magdaline Albrecht, 91, Athens, mother of an Amherst woman, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Poniatowski, with the Very Rev. Charles Hiebl presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Athens. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Athens is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Albrecht was born March 12, 1918, in the town of Halsey in Marathon County, a daughter of the late William and Clara (Auner) Schmitt. She was raised by her mother and grandfather after her father died when she was 4. She spent school months in Wausau and summers with her grandfather Henry Schmitt, in rural Athens. She was married to Joseph Albrecht on Oct. 12, 1937, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wausau. She and her husband spent most of their married life farming in the town of Halsey. In 1984 they moved to Athens. She was an active member of St. Anthony Parish in Athens, served as president of the PCCW for many years and was also a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Survivors include her husband; six daughters, Rosemary (Dennis) Kraft and Judith Wisniewski, both of Wausau, Kathleen Writz, Marathon, Nancy (Marvin) Reuter, Athens, Diane (Chuck) Humpal, Cadott, and Teresa Albrecht, Amherst; two sisters, Mable Rauen and Henrietta Gaulke, both of Wausau; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-stepgrandchild. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, infant Joseph and Sylvester "Paddy" Schmitt; and two sisters, Viola Zinda and Loretta Neuens. |
