Chester Schulist

Chester Schulist, 89, formerly of Rosholt, former owner of the Schulist Bar on Highway 66, died Wednesday, Aug.18, 2010, at Oakridge Assisted Living in Stevens Point while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt, with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the Mass. The St. Adalbert Rosary Society and the St. Isadore Rosary Society will combine to pray the parish rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Schulist was born May 19, 1921, in the town of Sharon, a son of the late Lawrence and Susie (Wiza) Schulist. He attended local schools.

He was married to Florence Kurszewski on Aug. 31, 1946, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. She died on Aug. 13, 2010.

After the marriage the couple moved to Milwaukee where he worked for Blatz Brewing Company. They returned to Rosholt where the couple owned and operated Schulist Bar on Highway 66 for 22 years.

He was a member of the St. Adalbert Men's Rosary Society and the St. Isadore Rosary Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Marlene (John) Skibba, Florida, Nancy (John) Kruzicki, Rosholt, Jenell Shulist, Middleton, and Corrine (Art) Oksuita, Stevens Point; one son, Harvey (Sandra), Custer; one brother, Hubert, Custer; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
