| Paul A. Mayer Paul A. Mayer, 93, Madison, formerly of Junction City, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Hospice Care in Madison. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Junction City, with the Rev. Douglas Schalow officiating. Burial will be in Runkel Cemetery in the town of Eau Pleine in Portage County. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the services. Martens/Rembs Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.rembsfh.com. Mr. Mayer was born March 17, 1917, in Junction City, a son of the late August and Mary (Forsythe) Mayer. After graduating from high school, he moved to Madison and attended the University of Wisconsin for a short time. He was married to Marie Fahrni in November 1941 in Madison. They moved back to Junction City where he farmed until 1973. He then worked at a co-op for several years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Junction City and served as church treasurer for a time. In the mid 1990s, they moved to Madison to be close to their children. Survivors include one daughter, Jo Ann, Madison; one son, Alan, Madison; and two brothers, Clarence (Ina), Freeport, Ill., and Marvin (Lauretta), Menominee, Mich. He was also preceded in death by his wife; one son, Paul; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Edna Fiedler. |
