Helen Hudziak Macijeski

Helen Hudziak Macijeski, 102, Wild Rose, a Heffron native, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in the town of Lanark, with the Rev. Dan Farley officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Heffron.

Visitation was at Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Deacon Peter Burek officiating.

Mrs. Macijeski was born Jan. 3, 1908, near Heffron, a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Kitowski) Warzynski. She spent her childhood in the Heffron area, moving to Chicago when she was in her teens where she worked at Western Electric.

She was married to August Hudziak on Aug. 27, 1928. He died in 1955.

After the marriage, they moved back to central Wisconsin where they farmed. They also owned and operated taverns in Wild Rose and Heffron.

She was married to Roman Macijeski on Feb. 14, 1961.

Later in life, she worked at the Wild Rose Creamery.

She was a bowler and gardener.

She and her husband moved to Rosemore Retirement Village in Wild Rose in 2008.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Heffron, which later became St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in southeast Portage County.

Survivors include her husband, Wild Rose; one son, Norman (Jeannette) Hudziak, Wild Rose; one brother, Raymond (Rosemary) Warzynski, Almond; two sisters, Florence Petrick, Bancroft, and Adele (Robert) Korleski, Almond; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
