Eleanore M. Bestul Eleanore M. Bestul, 87, Waupaca, a town of Amherst native, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Bethany Home in Waupaca. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Scandinavia Lutheran Church in Scandinavia, with the Rev. Mark E. Sabin officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the service at the church. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.hollyfuneralhome.com. Mrs. Bestul was born Jan. 11, 1923, in the town of Amherst, a daughter of the late Albert and Aleda (Engebretson) Thompson. She was married to Harold Bestul on July 20, 1963, in Waupaca. He died on Jan. 11, 1984. She was a member of Scandinavia Lutheran Church in Scandinavia. Survivors include one daughter, Janie Paulson, Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Russell Thompson, King; three stepchildren, Howard Bestul, Jerome Bestul and Janet Bestul; 11 grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Edward Paulson; one sister, Helen Holmnes; one brother, Robert Thompson; and one stepson, David Bestul.
