Carol V. Adamski

Carol V. Adamski, 82, Stevens Point, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Oak Ridge Senior Living in Stevens Point where she had resided for the past six months.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the services.

Memorial contributions should be made to the Green Circle Trail.

Mrs. Adamski was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., a daughter of the late Carl and Veronica (Fosterling) Sauter. She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1945.

She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and worked as a receptionist for Dr. William Sheehan.

She was married to Robert Adamski on June 19, 1946, in Stevens Point. He died on Feb. 2, 1993.

After her family grew up, she worked for the Rice Clinic and the Portage County Human Services Department.

She was a volunteer at Catholic schools, where she was a playground supervisor, librarian and Girl Scout leader. She also was a volunteer for the Portage County Literacy Council, where she tutored refugees.

Mrs. Adamski was also an environmental advocate, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Stanislaus and was known as the "Halloween Lady" because she enjoyed having children do tricks for her on Halloween.

Survivors include four daughters, Louise (Terrance) Landowski, Plover, Susie (Kent) Eberhard, Stevens Point, Ginny Adamski (Tom) Jacobs, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mary Beth Adamski Headrick, Bartlett, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Glenn.
