Joseph P. Olszewski

Joseph P. Olszewski, 85, 3050 Highway C, Stevens Point, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek, with the Rev. John Potaczek officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and at the church from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass. The Knights of Columbus and the St. Bartholomew's Holy Name Society will combine with a general rosary at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Mr. Olszewski was born Feb. 17, 1924, in the town of Carson, a son of the late Adam and Martha (Lehman) Olszewski.

He was married to Lucy A. Williams on Oct. 14, 1944, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek. She died on May 19, 2005.

He farmed in Mill Creek for many years and also was employed by the Portage County Highway Department, retiring on Jan. 9, 1987.

He was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1170 and a member of the St. Bartholomew's Holy Name Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane (Henry) Wiernik, Stevens Point; two sons, Stan and David (LuAnn), both of Stevens Point; two sisters, Clara Kujawa, Plover, and Marge Olszewski, Stevens Point; three brothers, Chester (Jeanette), Menasha, and Clarence (Eleanor) and Greg (Antoinette), both of Stevens Point; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ed.
