Douglas D. Laughran

Douglas Dean Laughran, 61, Beaver Dam, a former Junction City resident and the son of a Junhction City couple, died Friday, May 22, 2009.

Visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. The John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 will provide military honors at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.

Memorials may be directed to the family for an educational trust fund for his son, Cody.

Mr. Laughran was born March 17, 1948, in Milwaukee, a son of Martha (Bialek) Laughran and the late Quentin Laughran. He was raised in Junction City and attended P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point.

He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He entered the U.S. Army on Nov. 10, 1966, and was honorably discharged on Aug. 21, 1969, receiving a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He was married to Kathleen Kasmiske on Dec. 24, 1985, in Oregon.

He was employed at Oakhill Correctional Institution in Oregon and retired in May 2005.

Doug's hobbies included hunting, fishing, target shooting, reading, motorcycling, playing his guitar and other outdoor activities.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy, Beaver Dam; one son, Cody, Beaver Dam; two daughters, Victoria (Jim) Lundy, Waupun, and Bobbie Jo (Scott) Mleziva, West Allis; his parents, David and Martha Hunter, Junction City; two sisters, Laura (David) Schaub-Laughran, Arizona, and Karen (Dave) Remus, Wisconsin; two brothers, Bruce (Linda) Hunter, California, and Jeff Hunter, Texas; and four grandchildren.
