| Stanley A. King Stanley A. King, 90, 5625 Sandpiper Drive, Oak Ridge Apartments, Stevens Point, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Stevens Point Care Center in Whiting. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin C. Louis officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be in the St. Faustina Room of the church from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until the Mass. Memorials in his name to St. Peter Catholic Church or the Stevens Point Care Center would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Mr. King was born March 30, 1919, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Suchowski) King. He was married to Helen Zelewski on Oct. 22, 1938, at St. Peter Catholic Church. She died on Nov. 21, 2007. After the marriage they moved to Milwaukee for a short time before finally settling in Stevens Point. He was the last living iceman that worked on the Wisconsin River. He worked for Consolidated Papers Inc., retiring after 33 years. After his retirement he pursued golf, winning many senior golf championships. Survivors include four daughters, Marlene (Dave) Simonson, Stevens Point, Louise (Henry) Hughlett, Junction City, Patricia (Jerry) Lind, Plover, and Karyn (Nate) Christensen, Baltimore, Md.; three sons, James (Jean) and Rick (Carleen), both of Stevens Point, and Clifford (Karen), Plover; one brother, Leonard (Terri), Stevens Point; two sisters, Jean Borski, Stevens Point, and Dorothy (Warren) Arndorfer, Eagle; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Roman, Harry, Bernard, Carl and Edward; and two sisters, Anna and Theresa. |
