Floyd E. Ganther

Floyd E. Ganther, 60, Mosinee, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at his home.

Friends and family will celebrate his life from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point. Burial will be in Veterans Cemetery in King.

Mr. Ganther was born March 15, l949, in Mauston, a son of the late Richard Floyd and Josephine Victoria (Leszczynski) Ganther. He graduated from Necedah High School.

He entered the U.S. Army on July 4, 1969, at Fort Campbell, Ky. He was discharged on Jan. 11, 1972, at Fort Riley, Kansas. He received the National Defense Medal and was a rifle marksman. He served in Portugal during the Vietnam War. He then served in the Army Reserves until June 26, 1975.

After service he worked for the Department of Natural Resources in fire control until coming to Stevens Point in 1979. He was a letter carrier for the post office until his retirement due to ill health in 2005.

He was a member of the National Letter Carriers Local 381.

He was married to Vicki Marie Simonis on July 3, 2004, in Wausau.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Craig Ganther, Wausau, and Albert (Victoria) Simonis, Mosinee; one daughter, Ronda (Bradley) Stieber, Wausau; one sister, JoAnn Ganther, Necedah; one brother, Charles (Nancy) Ganther, Necedah; and four grandchildren.
