Celia B. Ciaglo

Celia B. Ciaglo, 87, Reedsburg, a town of Eau Pleine and former resident of Junction City and Stevens Point, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Junction City, with the Rev. Augustine Bentil officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Junction City.

Visitation will be at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the Mass.

Memorials may be designated in her name to St. Michael or St. Joseph Catholic churches in lieu of flowers.

Mrs. Ciaglo was born Jan. 11, 1922, in the town of Eau Pleine in Portage County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Bobrowski) Mallek. She attended St. Michael Parochial School in Junction City.

She was married to Joseph W. Ciaglo on May 19, 1945, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Junction City. He died Nov. 12, 1996.

After the marriage, they farmed in the town of Eau Pleine for several years. They then moved to the village of Junction City, where they lived for 36 years before moving to Stevens Point in 1995.

Besides being a mother and homemaker, she was employed for a time as a telephone operator. She later was employed as a clerk at the City Market in Junction City, after which she and her husband put a bakery shop in the basement of their home. She operated that shop for more than 25 years, and it was known as Celia's Bakery Shop.

She retired in 1989, and the couple did a lot of traveling throughout the United States and Europe.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church while in Stevens Point and had been a member of St. Michael Church in Junction City, where she was active in the Altar Society and a member of the Senior Citizens Club. She also did some volunteering.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Paul) Salvin, Palm City, Fla., and Kasha (Mike) Helget, Arlington, Va.; one son, Robert (Darlene), Reedsburg; three brothers, Edward (Angeline) Mallek, Junction City, Allie (Vanard) Mallek, Stevens Point, and Joseph (Sharon) Mallek, Lexington, Ky.; three sisters, Martha (Alex) Mancl, Wisconsin Rapids, Josie (Don) Martens, Brentwood, Tenn., and Rose Marie Kawleski, Hot Springs, Ark.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother.
