Karen Marie (Oliver) Casanovas

Karen Marie (Oliver) Casasnovas, 43, Seminole, Fla., a Stevens Point native, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at her home after a battle with breast cancer.

Funeral services were held in Florida but her family invites friends to celebrate her life at a special Remembrance Service at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.

Memorials may be made to the Cooper E. Casasnovas Education Fund established at Wachovia Bank, Oakhurst Financial Center, Seminole, FL 33776, in lieu of flowers.

Mrs. Casanovas was born Jan. 22, 1966, in Stevens Point, a daughter of Russ and Jean Oliver. She graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in 1984.

She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master's degree from the University of Southern Florida.

She was married to Roque Casasnovas in Florida.

She taught in the Seminole area for 19 years. She also operated a Partylite business.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Cooper, Seminole, Fla.; her parents, Russ and Jean Oliver, Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Cindy (Jeff) Early, Evanston, Ill., and Becky (Joe) Sterr, Chippewa Falls; one brother, Dan Oliver, Winona, Minn.; and two nieces.
