Virginia C. Arnold

Virginia C. Arnold, 91, a resident of the Portage County Health Care Center, died there Monday, May 25, 2009, while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, in the Chapel of the Flowers, with the Rev. Martin Lieber officiating.

Visitation will be at the chapel from 1 p.m. Friday until the service.

A memorial has been established in her name for Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services.

Boston Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at

Mrs. Arnold was born Jan. 9, 1918, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Otto and Augusta (Strey) Schoebeck. She grew up in Milwaukee, graduated from Washington High School in 1936 and attended Business College.

She was an assistant vice president in charge of new accounts at Republic Savings and Loan in Milwaukee for many years.

She was married to Herbert E. Arnold on Sept. 23, 1939, in Milwaukee. He died on Feb 14, 1997.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a Stephen's Minister. In earlier years she was active with Boy Scouts, a Masonic Youth Group and was a Sunday School teacher.

She was involved in wood carving, crocheting and knitting.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy (Donald) Ludwig, Sebring, Fla.; one son, Lloyd (Julie), Plover; three grandchildren, Dawn (Michael) Terminel, Anchorage, Alaska, and Lindsey and Kristin Arnold, both of Plover; and three great-grandsons.
