| Lila M. Weller Lila M. Weller, 87, Wittenberg, the mother of two Portage County residents, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services of Wausau at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway, with the Rev. Rex Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. on Thursday until the Mass. A parish prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Schmidt-Schulte Funeral Home in Wittenberg assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.schmidtschulta.com. Mrs. Weller was born Sept. 9, 1921, in the township of Franzen in Marathon County, a daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle (Matson) Brooks. She was married to Gustave Weller in 1941 in Fond du Lac. He died on May 19, 1973. She worked at Gus & Ann's Restaurant in Wittenberg as a cook for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway and its Rosary Society. Survivors include six sons, Gustave (Ann) Jr. and Greg (Dianne), both of Wittenberg, Richard (Marcia), Galloway, Ronald (special friend, Ginger), Kronenwetter, Mike (Carol), Almond, and Mark (Gloria) Weller, Omro; five daughters, Joanne (Maynard) Witkowski, Elderon, Shirley Geiser, Amberg, Diane (Charles) Rogalla, Eland, Kathy (Pat) Baker, Amherst, and Theresa (Jeff) Schuh, Tigerton; one sister, Mary Siede, Wittenberg; one brother, Robert Brooks, Larsen; 36 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Rosie Dudzik and Connie Dilge; one sister, Anna Mae Thorson; two brothers, John Brooks and Harold Brooks; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. |
