| Donald A. Ruehl Sr. Donald A. Ruehl Sr., 82, 917 Illinois Ave., Stevens Point, a former Stevens Point assessor, died Monday, June 15, 2009, at Wellington Place in Stevens Point. Private services were held. Burial will take place in Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in King. Memorials in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601, in lieu of flowers. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.pisarskifuneralhome.com. Mr. Ruehl was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Milwaukee, a son of the late Herbert and Florence (Miller) Ruehl. He attended schools in Milwaukee, graduating from Wauwatosa High School. He entered the service on Feb. 26, 1945, at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He served as a private first class in the Army Air Force. He received the Asiatic/Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 30, 1946, at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He was married to Lois Lenz on Sept. 20, 1947, at St. Matthew Church in Wauwatosa. He worked as an assessor and appraiser for various communities including Stevens Point, retiring in 1994. When he was younger he signed a contract with a Philadelphia Phillies farm club. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald Jr. and Kevin (Beth), both of Stevens Point; one brother, Herbert T., Menomonie Falls; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. |
