Christine Lassa

Christine Victoria Lassa, 53, Hudson, a Stevens Point native, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., following a battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 13, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hudson, with the Rev. John Parr officiating.

Cremation services were coordinated by Countryside Crematory of Baldwin.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Ms. Lassa was born March 25, 1956, in Stevens Point, a daughter of Francis and Marion (Moravec) Lassa. She attended a one-room elementary school in Mosinee and then Stevens Point schools, graduating from Stevens Point Area Senior High School.

She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of Minnesota-St. Paul campus.

She became a licensed veterinarian and started her career at Corcoran Animal Hospital in Corcoran, Minn. She then worked for Dr. Brenda Bray at Animal Care Center in Hudson.

She was married to Gary Konkol on June 23, 1979, at Newman Parish in Stevens Point.

After the birth of her daughters, she began pursuing work in personal fitness and started teaching aerobics at the YMCA in Hudson.

She became a personal trainer and founded "Your Personal Edge" fitness training with Rita Vance. She later expanded into massage therapy through the St. Croix Center For The Healing Arts and was working to become certified in yoga instruction.

She was a Master Gardener.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Aly and Tessa; her parents, Francis and Marion (Moravec) Lassa, Rickreall, Ore.; six sisters, Cathy (Jim) Bembinster, Evansville, Carol (Andy) Galloway, Surprise, Ariz., Judy (Lonnie) Lassa Krawl, Boise, Idaho, Teri Lassa, Cleveland, Ohio, Linda (Rick) Schwertel, Hudson, and Andrea (James) Frey, McMiniville, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
