Myrtle V. Larson

Myrtle V. (Mrs. Lester) Larson, 98, Iola, a former nurse in Stevens Point, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola, with the Rev. Dennis Olson officiating. Burial will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the services.

Mrs. Larson was born June 11, 1910, in Waupaca, a daughter of the late Martin and Hilda (Johnson) Peterson. She graduated from Waupaca High School in 1928.

In 1932 she graduated from the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn.

She was employed as a nurse at hospitals in Waupaca, Iola and Stevens Point. She also was a private nurse for several families in Stevens Point before her retirement.

She was married to Lester Larson on May 25, 1946, in Dubuque, Iowa.

They resided in Iola until the Green Bay Western Railroad transferred him to Kewaunee, where he continued to work as a depot agent. They returned to Iola after 20 years and retired in their home on State Street.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, Iola Historical Society, Sons of Norway and the Women's Division of the Democratic Party.

Survivors include one sister, Ellen Bammel, Waupaca; one niece, Patricia (Jim) Watkins, Colorado; three nephews, Paul (Cindy) Bammel Jr., Eau Claire, amd Lee Nelson and Robert (Carol) Lashua, both of Iola.
