| Vernon L. LaPorte Sr. Vernon L. LaPorte Sr., 93, rural Hancock, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in the town of Deerfield in Waushara County, with the Rev. Dale W. Bahls officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the services. Leikness Funeral Home in Plainfield is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.plainfieldfuneralhome.com. Mr. LaPorte was born July 18, 1915, in Iron County, a son of the late Leory and Orphia (Pritchet) LaPorte. He was married to Anna A. Scharf on Oct. 16, 1938, in Almond. He was employed at Wetmore Electric in Hancock and at the former Waushara Electric Cooperative in Wautoma for many years. Later, he worked at Bacon Farms in Hancock. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in the town of Deerfield. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nona Bliske, Nekoosa, and Diane Roloff, Hancock; one son, Gary (Viola), Richford; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one son, Vernon L. Jr.; three brothers, Leslie, Percy and Don; and four sisters, Beatrice, Pearl, Margaret and Betty. |
