Edward S. Japczyk

Edward S. Japczyk, 66, Hancock, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield, under the auspices of Rogers-Oestreich American Legion Post 343 of Hancock/Coloma.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the services.

Memorials to the family would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Mr. Japczyk was born Sept. 25, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., a son of Helen (Drummer) Japczyk and the late Stanley Japczyk.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 until 1966.

He was married to Corine M. Uteg on July 22, 1978, in Chicago, Ill.

He compiled the Daily Racing Form in Chicago and California for 24 years.

He and his wife moved from Torrance, Calif., to Hancock in 1997. He was employed at Brakebush Bros. of Westfield until his retirement.

At the time of his death, he managed the Recycling Center at Plainfield.

Survivors include his wife, Hancock; his mother, Helen Japczyk, Indiana; four daughters, Lisa (Pat Noonan) Johnson, Melrose Park, Ill., Roxanna (Ed) Dickman and Michelle (Dino Katris) Wieland, both of Chicago, Ill., and Carrie Wieland, Minnesota; one son, Theodore, Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Dennis (Julie), Indiana; and eight grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two grandsons.
