| Byron Challoner Byron Challoner, 75, Hancock, father of two Portage County residents, died unexpectedly Monday, June 22, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hancock Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Eric L. Hambrock officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Hancock Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the services. Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.plainfieldfuneralhome.com. Mr. Challoner was born June 28, 1933, in Big Flats, a son of the late Frank and Blanche (West) Challoner. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was married to Carol J. Renner on Aug. 17, 1957, in Bancroft. She preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Darla (James) Woiak, Stevens Point, Julane Eastling, Wautoma, and Pam (Dale) Sweeney, Hancock; two sons, Lonny (Ruth), Hancock, and Byron Jr., Plover; four brothers; three sisters; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Leatha Timmerman; three brothers; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. |
