| Marlene A. Cable Marlene A. Cable, 70, Eau Claire, a Stevens Point native and sister of a Plover man, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Visitation will be at the Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, between 4:30 and 7 p.m. Monday, June 29, and at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, to consider a memorial on her behalf to one of the following organizations: Single Parents Scholarship Fund (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire), Women's Fund (Eau Claire Community Foundation), Philanthropy Fund (PEO Chapter BE of Eau Claire), Dr. W.A. & Nora Jensen Scholarship Fund (Community Foundation of Portage County) or a nonprofit organization of one's choice. Condolences may be offered online at www.fullerspeckien.com. Mrs. Cable was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Winfred and Nora (Hotvedt) Jensen. She was married to Dick Cable in Stevens Point on Aug. 8, 1959. The family moved to Eau Claire in 1972. She was a "stay at home mom" until her children graduated from college. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, PEO, Library Book Group, the Walkers, the Stitchers, bridge clubs and several other nonprofit organizations, including the Eau Claire Community Foundation. In many of the groups she was known as the "Cake Lady" because she made birthday cakes for members. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kurt (Tammy), Eau Claire, and Dan (Lizzy), Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Kathy (Chuck) Caskey, Denver, Colo., and Jodi (Randy) Welch, Sherrard, Ill.; two sisters, Nancy (Ed) Charlton, Murphys, Calif., and Claire Hansen, Jensen Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Winfred "Butch" (Joanne) Jensen, Madison, and Steve (Pam) Jensen, Plover; and 12 grandchildren, Rich, Brianna, Kaitlyn and John Cable; Madeline, Frances and Cooper Cable; Charlie, Maria and Benjamin Caskey; and Aidan and Brennan Welch. |
