| Claude 'Skip' Waltenberg Sr. Claude "Skip" Waltenberg Sr., 86, Junction City, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at St. Michael's Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Boston Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Runkle Cemetery in the town of Eau Pleine. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and again from 10 a.m. Friday until the service. Condolences may be offered online at bostonfuneralhome.net. Mr. Waltenberg was born April 25, 1921, in Adams-Friendship, a son of the late James and Nila (Grant) Waltenberg. He grew up on the family farm and attended the local school in the town of Linwood. He began working on the family farm until becoming employed at Consolidated Papers. He worked there until becoming inducted into the U.S. Army Oct. 21, 1942. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 10, 1943. After his time in service, he worked for Soo Line Railroad for a short time as a bridge builder. He later returned to Consolidated Paper as a pipe fitter and welder. He worked there for 43 years and retired in 1984. He was married to Irene Hawro on Dec. 1, 1976, in Wausau. He was a member of American Legion Post 6 and a past member of AMVETS Post 1051 and the Tomorrow River Conservation Club. Survivors include his wife, Junction City; his children, Claude (Ginger) Jr., Eugene, Ernest (Sandy), Byron (Molly), Dawayne (Jan), Leona (Dave), Louann, Matt (Anna) and Scott; his former wife, Lula; one brother, Frank Boettcher; four sisters, Elsie, Rosie, Elizabeth and Joyce; 20 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. |
