| George F. Sobczak George F. Sobczak, 79, 1819 Linden St., Stevens Point, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. He fought a battle with multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer). Services will be held at noon Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, with the Rev. Devaraj officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Condolences may be offered online at www.shudafuneral.com. Mr. Sobczak was born April 16, 1928, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Frank and Martha (Worzalla) Sobczak. He graduated from St. Peter School and P.J. Jacobs High School. He entered the United States Army on Dec. 14, 1950, in Milwaukee. He served as a private first class with the 838th Signal Radio R.E.L. Company. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 13, 1952, in California. After serving, he stayed in Milwaukee for a couple of years working at A.O. Smith Co. and Case. He later returned to Stevens Point and worked at Consolidated Paper Co. and retired from there in 1990. He was married to Alice Wachowiak on Nov. 30, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point. They lived at their present address for the past 43 years. He was a member of Stevens Point American Legion Post 6, the Consolidated Muskie Club and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife; one son, Will Waul, Mosinee; one sister, Eleanor (Vernon) Bernhagen, Waukesha; and one grandson, Clayton Waul, Mosinee. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. |
