John G. Sikorski

John G. Sikorski, 85, Highway 66, Stevens Point, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at St Michael's Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in the town of Hull, with the Rev. Wesley Janowski officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the services.

Mr. Sikorski was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Polonia, a son of the late John and Frances (Weiland) Sikorski. He attended Polonia schools.

He entered the United States Army at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served as an automotive mechanic in the 9th Infantry Regiment. He earned the Victory Medal and was honorably discharged in June of 1947.

He worked in Milwaukee before and after the war. Upon his return to the area he owned and operated his own masonry business and ran that until his retirement in 1994. During his operation of his masonry business and until the past six months before his health condition worsened, he also ran a saw-sharpening business.

He was married to Elaine Weir on Sept. 25, 1948. She died in 1962.

He was married to Bernice Skrzypkowski-Zalewski on May 29, 1965. She died in 1991.

He was married to Margaret (Waldoch) Wroblewski on Oct. 16, 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; one son, Stephen (Sandy), Colorado; seven stepchildren, Bernard (Pat) Zalewski, Diane (Randy) Iwanski, Brenda (Steve) Ward, David (Debbie) Werwinski, Carol (Brian) Malek, Rob (Sue) Werwinski and Jim Werwinski; one sister, Cecilia Fredock; one granddaughter; 16 stepgrandchildren; and eight great-stepgrandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Marcia Sikorski; one stepson, John Werwinski; four brothers, Frank, Edward, Anthony and Daniel; and four sisters, Martha Trzebiatowski, Susan Jacobson, Genevieve Ostrowski and Frances Czerwinski.
