Orian A. 'Polly' Lipke

Orian A. "Polly" Lipke, 81, Hancock, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, after a long struggle against cancer. She was first diagnosed in 1981.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coloma.

Visitation will be at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Condolences may be offered online at

Mrs. Lipke was born Oct. 14, 1926, in the town of Leola in Adams County, a daughter of the late Harry and Effie Bell (Graves) Humphrey. She graduated from Hancock High School.

She earned bachelor of science and master of science degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

She was married to Duane Lipke on Sept. 15, 1944.

She worked in the development of the family dairy farm and a later transition to potato production for Ore-Ida Foods. She was also employed as a teacher and reading specialist for the Adams-Friendship School District from 1971 until her retirement in 1990.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Harlan (Shirley), Plainfield; three daughters, Lucille (Jim) Davis, Anchorage, Alaska, Trudy (Jack) Buchanan, Hancock, and Cheryl (Lee) Flyte, Coloma; one brother, Bill Humphrey, Nekoosa; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Humphrey; three sisters, Mary Bizer, Hazel Robinson and Bonnie Marousek; and one grandson.
