Willard G. Kennedy
Willard G. Kennedy, 80, a former Stevens Point resident, died at his home in Spring, Texas, on Wednesday, April
30, 2008.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, at the Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church in The Woodlands,
Texas.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Kennedy was born April 18, 1928, in New Castle, Ind., a son of the late Willard "Red" and Marie (Selke)
Kennedy.
He graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
His career included teaching in Crown Point, Ind., serving as a counselor at the Atterbury Job Corps Center and
being a mental health administrator at the New Castle State Development Center.
He lived in Stevens Point from 1990 to 2001, and during that time he participated in the Retired Senior Volunteer
Program. His activities included tutoring at the alternative high school, teaching a chip carving class at Lincoln
Center and serving as a Big Brother.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, a retired faculty member for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point School
of Education; one son, James Henry, Conyers, Ga.; one daughter, Ann-Marie Kennedy, Spring, Texas; one stepdaughter,
Kathryn McCormick, The Woodlands, Texas; one stepson, Bruce Rathbun, Norwood, Mass.; and two granddaughters. |
