Clarence E. Haynes, 84, Amherst, died Thursday, April 24, 2008. He had struggled for seven months with lung cancer and pneumonia.
A celebration of life and living will take place later this summer.
He requested no service, and his body was cremated as was his wish. His ashes will be returned to Georgia.

Mr. Haynes was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Atlanta, Ga.
He was married to Marsha Smith 37 years ago.
He was a logistics specialist for the Department of Defense missile programs for more than 30 years.
For the past 12 years he and his wife lived in Amherst.
Survivors include his wife.
