| Thomas 'Tom' Daniels Thomas "Tom" Daniels, 57, 2925 Algoma St., Stevens Point, "The Voice of Trivia," died unexpectedly at his home Sunday, April 13, 2008. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Olson officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and again from 9 a.m. Friday until the service. American Legion Post 6 will have a ritual at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Elks Lodge 641 will hold its ritual at 7 p.m. Thursday, both at the funeral chapel. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name. Condolences may be offered online at www.shudafuneral.com. Mr. Daniels was born Feb. 13, 1951, in Manitowoc, a son of Janet (Thatcher) Daniels and the late Robert Daniels. As a child the family moved to Stevens Point and he attended local schools, graduating from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1969. He entered the United States Army in 1971 and was honorably discharged in 1973. Upon returning to the area, he earned a degree in communications from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Before and after his service in the Army, he followed in his father's footsteps and worked radio station WIFC in Wausau. He began working at Cooper Motors in 1980 and celebrated his 28th year of service there in February of this year. He was a supporter of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids and the signature voice of the campus radio trivia contest since 1974. Survivors include Linda Matke, Stevens Point; two daughters, Erica Daniels, London, England, and Kortney Daniels, Stevens Point; his mother, Janet Daniels, Prior Lake, Minn.; two sisters, Diane (Randy) Niemczyk, Conover, and Gail (Geno) Dombrowski, Custer; three brothers, Rick, Plover, Bob (Kathy), Savage, Minn., and Michael (Ruth), Stevens Point; his godson, Joseph Anderson, Fort Campbell, Ky.; and four grandchildren. |
