Alice Simpson Chaney, 89, Plover, formerly of Amherst, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Whispering Pines Assisted Living Facility in Plover.
A private burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst.

Mrs. Chaney was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clarence and Alice (Keiry) Simpson.
She was married to Morris M. Chaney Jr. on Aug. 15, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. He died in March 1979.
She was a home economics major, an expert seamstress and advocate for organic farming.
Survivors include one son, Morris M. III, Ravenna, Ohio; two daughters, Merlyn P. Chaney, Amherst, and Alice L. Chaney, Madison; one sister, Mary Ruth Ferguson; and two grandchildren, Orion C. Giering and Rosemary Alice Tschantz.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Katherine Simpson; and two brothers, Bruce and Robert Simpson.
