Dale E. Bartkowiak
Dale E. Bartkowiak, 57, Marshfield, a Stevens Point native and brother of a Stevens Point man, died Sunday, March
5, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, after a lengthy illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home in Marshfield, with the Rev.
Daniel Bartkowiak, his brother, and the Rev. Mark Krueger officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service.
Memorials may be designated in his name to the Marshfield Public Library Foundation in lieu of flowers.
Mr. Bartkowiak was born March 22, 1948, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Edmund and Olga (Vande Loop) Bartkowiak.
He served in the United States Army in the Army Security Agency from 1967 until 1971.
He was married to Barbara A. Hudy on June 5, 1971, in Stevens Point.
He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he received a bachelor's degree and also attended UW-Madison
where he received a master's degree in library science.
After his education, he began his career at McMillan Memorial Library in 1975 until 1985. He then was employed
at Fond du Lac Public Library until 1987 when he became library director at Marshfield Public Library until 2002
when he retired because of illness.
He served as president of the Wisconsin Library Association in 1995 and was a member of the noon Rotary Club of
Marshfield. He also served on the United Way Board and New Visions Gallery Board, both in Marshfield, and the Literacy
Council of Wood County.
He played bass guitar in various groups, including The Rejects and The Furys.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Justin, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mathew (Sara), East Lansing, Mich.; two sisters,
Char Glocke, Onalaska, and Sandy (Harvey) Witte, Middleton; and two brothers, Dan (Kathy), Wooster, Ohio, and Rick
(Mary), Stevens Point. |
